One More Vote!

Thanks so much to all of you who made time to nominate us for the Saveur Blog Awards 2015. Based on your nominations and the editors’ judgement, The Mala Project is one of six finalists in the BEST NEW VOICE category.

Saveur is the preeminent magazine covering international cuisines, and I am thrilled and honored to be included by them in a field narrowed down from 50,000 submissions. The exposure from being a finalist will help tremendously in spreading the word about The Mala Project, but of course it wouldn’t be bad to win my category either.

There will be two winners in each category: a Readers’ Choice winner, determined by number of votes; and an Editors’ Choice winner, determined by Saveur’s editors. Voting is open from March 30 through April 30.

Please vote for us in the Best New Voice category HERE. While you are there, you can discover some wonderful blogs in the other categories as well. You do have to register to vote, but fans of food from around the world will want to be registered there anyway, right?

Thank you for reading and for voting (and for asking your friends to vote)!

Taylor and Fongchong

About Taylor Holliday

The Mala Market all began when Taylor, a former journalist, created this blog as a place to document her adventures learning to cook Sichuan food for Fongchong, her recently adopted 11-year-old daughter. They discovered through the years that the secret to making food that tastes like it would in China is using the same ingredients that are used in China. The mother-daughter team eventually began visiting Sichuan’s factories and farms together and, in 2016, opened The Mala Market, America’s source for heritage Sichuan ingredients and Chinese pantry essentials.

  3. I voted for you. Actually, this is how I found your website and am enjoying it thoroughly! I also adopted my older daughter overseas, although not from China. But I fully understand the cultural need for maintaining cultural ties and food is at the top! Chinese food is one of our favorites, especially Sichuan. This website is such a find! We wish you the best in winning!

    1. Thank you, Susan! It’s great to hear from people who can relate to our story. I appreciate your note (and vote!).
